Finding a perfect, foundation isn’t easy even with conventional brands. Often times foundations don’t look natural, or oxidize and you end up with too dark shade, or they look cakey, or show dry skin patches, or make your skin looking greasy… or all at once! Sounds familiar? Recently I tried Ere Perez Oat Foundation in shade latte and I think it is close to perfection.
This 100% vegan foundation is creamy, but not greasy. Latte – very light porcelain shade matches my light skin with neutral undertones perfectly. It actually looked so light when I put it on my hand, that I was afraid for a moment that it will be too light for me. However, as soon as I put it on my skin it looked perfect. Although I think it may be too light for most of the people, especially in the summer. It comes in 6 shades:
LATTE – light, porcelain skin
HONEY – light skin
CHAI – light to medium skin
CARAMEL – golden, warm skin
BREW – medium to deep skin
MOCHA – deep skin
The problem here is with undertones, I haven’t found any descriptions on the web. I had to reach out to Ere Perez brand to ask specifically if latte will work for neutral undertone skin.
This product gives a very natural, dewy finish, providing medium coverage, but you can build it up to full (I haven’t tried it though, I don’t need full coverage). If you prefer more matte finish, you can set it with any translucent setting powder. I didn’t, since I love the glowing skin effect.
Very small amount is enough for my whole face. Foundation is hydrating and long lasting – all day with no touch ups, however I could matte my T-zone a little bit. I have dry combination skin. What is also a great thing, it doesn’t clog the pores at all! I was surprised, because that usually happens to me with any foundation, even clean, and I needed to use face scrub every night to get rid off excess of sebum. Ere perez oat foundation definitely doesn’t clog pores, so it is safe to say it will work for acne prone skins.
I love everything about this foundation: from minimalistic packaging to the product quality and performance. I think it is a very luxurious product in a simple, modern packaging and with affordable price tag. The only down side I see is the fact that there are only 2 light shades and one is for neutral/cool complexion and the other seems to work better for warm, which means if the lightest shade is gonna be too light for me (let’s say in the summer) I have no option to find a perfect match, since honey shade will be too warm. Also, it would be perfect if it had UV protection. All in all, I’d give it 5 of 5 stars for the performance and beautiful, natural and dewy finish. Now I’m super curious about their other products, can’t wait to try more!
Have you tried Ere Perez brand?
Looking for a natural deodorant that actually works? Natural often means ‘no aluminum’ which is great step towards a better health, however I was looking for more. On my checklist: nice scent + odor block, easy application and preferably no white stains on my shirt and as a bonus, decent price. Which brand was the closest?
I’ve tested for you 5 deodorants:
Schmidt’s Bergamot & lime
Schmidt’s Pineapple & Coconut sensitive skin formula
Tom’s of Maine Fresh apricot
Zion Health Claydry deodorant original
Zion Health Claydry deodorant eucalyptus mint
Schmidt’s Bergamot & lime
The first thing I look at are the ingredients. I always appreciate clean, non toxic and safe formula.
Ingredients: Maranta (arrowroot) Powder, Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda), Cocos Nucifera (coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea butter), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (fractionated coconut oil), Euphorbia Cerifera (candelilla) Wax, Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (bergamot) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (lime) Oil, Tocopherol (vitamin E; sunflower-derived)
The second thing in my ranking is the scent. Don’t you agree that’s pretty important when it comes to a deodorant? Well, at least in my case, if I ever tried unscented one, it did not work.
The natural scent of this deodorant is really pleasant. Very refreshing lime, perfect for the summer!
Odor block: It did block odor for all day, I was very impressed how long lasting it is.
Application: Here the things get actually worse… The stick feels dry and deodorant is hard to apply. I got chills during application, and after all my armpits felt ‘rough’, not soft for sure.
Price is pretty decent: 8.99$
Concerns: Unfortunately, after using a few times I developed red, itchy rash on my armpits and I had to stop using this formula. Maybe it was too much arrowroot and baking soda? Not sure, but I decided to give a try to sensitive version of Schmidt’s.
Summary: I’d recommend it for you if you do not have sensitive skin or… you do not shave your armpits! 😀 In terms of odor – it really does the job, however it is just to harsh for me.
Schmidt’s Pineapple & Coconut sensitive skin formula
This formula is suppose to be more delicate than regular one. Producer excluded baking soda and used magnesium hydroxide instead. It still has arrowroot though for more protection.
Ingredients: Magnesium Hydroxide, Cocos Nucifera (coconut) Oil, Maranta Arundinacea (arrowroot) Powder, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (fractionated coconut oil), Butyrospermum Parkii (shea butter), Euphorbia Cerifera (candelilla) Wax, Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Seed Oil, Natural Fragrance, Tocopherol (vitamin E; sunflower-derived)
Scent: The scent is nice, kind of like pinacolada, however a little to sweet for me as for deodorant.
Odor block: The nice scent changed in contact with my skin pH after a few minutes of application, and sweet pineapple coconut turned into… some weird scent, that I could not handle. I was not even sweating yet, but I just got sensitive to that scent. After about 4 hours, I needed to wash my armpits and apply some other deodorant, because I was sweating a lot and smelled pretty bad. I just do not think it was my best choice of scent of this deodorant. It blocks odor for maybe 2h, however in contact with my skin, the scent was not what I expected.
Application: The stick feels better and smoother than lime & bergamot formula with baking soda, deodorant is easier to apply and armpits feel soft.
Concerns: Weird thing happened: I really used a little of the product and despite that it rolled somehow and left chunks (?) of the stick on my armpits. I really did not like that feeling (and the look), I would be ashamed if I was wearing tank top at the gym and that would happen to me…
Summary: I do not recommend this deodorant if you are looking for something blocking your natural odor. Maybe if I tried different scent it would have been better… but for now I am not going to, since I’ve tried 2 from this brand and none of them was even close to what I’ve been looking for. Also, this particular deodorant is not the cheapest: 10.99$.
Tom’s of Maine Fresh apricot
Tom’s brand advertise their deodorant as long lasting and odor blocking up to 24h. This really got me excited, so I could not wait to try it. Ingredients are clean, vegan and fresh apricot sounded fantastic.
Ingredients: Propylene glycol (vegetable derived), water, sodium stearate, organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice, glyceryl laurate, natural fragrance, humulus lupulus (hops)* cone extract, organic helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, ascorbic acid, organic cymbopogon flexosus oil.
No baking soda, no arrowroot – seems delicate and safe, right?
Scent: The scent is very, very pretty. Very fresh and juicy.
Odor block: Similar to Schmidt’s sensitive formula, the nice apricot scent changed in contact with my skin pH to… not really fresh apricot. Unfortunately after about 2hrs I smelled really bad, I’d say worse than if I did not use deodorant! Truly. Not effective at all, I have no idea what happened!
Application: The stick feels very good, it is soft and feels like gel, I really liked it. No allergic reaction either. This is probably the only positive thing I can say about Tom’s deodorant.
Concerns: Not effective, smells weird in contact with my skin, just completely not what I am expecting from deodorant.
Summary: I’ve had my hopes high for this easy-applying deodorant in very decent price: 4.49$, however it is just not working for me, I won’t be buying again, I think it does not block odor, instead it actually makes you smell worse.
Zion Health Claydry deodorant (original scent)
Clay deodorant caught my attention since Clay is suppose to absorb odor and toxins, and ZionHealth deodorants are formulated with a special type of healing clay called Calcium Montmorillonite. Ingredients are clean, however after my rash (from baking soda in Schmidt’s, I suppose), I was a little bit skeptical.
Ingredients: Maranta Arundinacea Root (Arrowroot) Powder, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Yuzu Fragrance, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Flavor, d-alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ionic Clay Minerals, Arnica Monatana (Arnica) Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria (Chamomile)) Flower Extract, Carthamus Tinctorious (Safflower) Seed Oil, Camellia Sinesis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract.
Scent: The scent… oh my goodness! I love it, it is fresh, deodorant smells like oranges or… Fanta 😀 I cannot describe, but it is a really nice scent for a deodorant.
Odor block: It DOES the job! Guys, it really blocks odor for all day long. Yay! It is currently super hot in Texas and this deodorant, even if you sweat and feel kind of wet (it is not antiperspirant) you won’t smell bad at all. This is what I was looking for.
Application: The stick feels kind of between Schmidt’s sensitive & baking soda formula, which is not the softest, but still pretty easy to apply. Also, you need to apply very little of product, which is great, because it will last you for longer time.
Concerns: Hmm… no concerns, maybe just one – I might have applied too much at first, and I’ve got some white spots on my black shirt. It did not happen ever again though.
Summary: I was very impressed by this product, at first I did not believe clay in deodorant may actually change something, but it certainly did. This deodorant is my must have from now on. My husband loves it too!
I’ve tried cute travel size ClayDry in Eucalyptus mint scent and it works great for me as well. The only difference between original & eucalyptus mint is that the second one will give you kind of cooling sensation, so if you’re not a fan, stick to original one (or different available scents). To me cooling effect was actually a relief in hot day. Eucalyptus mint did not leave any white spots on my shirt. Ideal! And the price is only 7.99$!
Have you tried any of these brands? What is your experience?
Disclaimer: I received Schmidt’s and ZionHealth products for free for testing purposes. Tom’s of Maine I purchased on my own. All opinions are mine, 100% honest. I always recommend products that I love and that worked for me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comment section bellow.
Evolve Beauty is a range of handmade, award winning beauty products that are vegan, cruelty free and eco friendly. All cosmetics are made from the most effective, natural and organic food based ingredients. If you think that sounds good, read the whole review to find out more about this amazing brand originally from England.
Evolve sent me three products to try:
Hyaluronic Serum 200 (40$)
Pure, clear serum for normal to dry skin that contains 200mg hyaluronic acid. It hydrates skin from within and plump up fine lines and wrinkles. It also has organic pomegranate extract in it, that softens and protects skin. Serum is very delicately fragranced with organic rosewater, however I cannot smell anything, which is a good thing since I do not like scented facial serums.
Ingredients – 98-100% organic
aqua (water), rosa damascena (rose) water*, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder*, punica granatum (pomegranate) fruit extract*, glycerin, amorphophallus konjac root powder, sodium hyaluronate, sodium levulinate, sodium anisate, sodium dehydroacetate. *ingredients from organic farming
Even though it is hyaluronic acid, this serum feels really lightweight after applying. One pump is enough for face and neck! I am surprised with the consistency which feels more like gel than water – which is great because it is easier to apply the product without loosing part of it in your sink or the floor… which used to happen to me with more watery serums. I love to use this serum every night after I was my face with gentle cleansing melt, about which you can read bellow.
Gentle cleansing melt (26$)
Very luxurious cleansing balm that contains one of the most expensive and effective, nourishing organic baobab oil. Baobab oil soothes and hydrates while cleansing your skin from impurities and makeup.
(sweet almond) seed oil*, sucrose laurate, adansonia digitata (baobab) seed oil*, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit water*, vanilla planifolia (vanilla) fruit extract*, rosa damascena flower oil*, tocopherol. *ingredients from organic farming
This melt feels just unbelievable. I mean, usually when I wash my face, I feel like it is dry or dehydrated right away. What is magical about this product – combined with water it turns from gel/oil to creamy cleansing texture, because it has natural sugar extracts in it. It leaves skin clean and very hydrated!
Daily Renew Face Cream (32$)
Moisturizer for normal to dry skin with a blend of pure organic oils. It has argan oil and hyaluronic acid to hydrate.
butter)*, coco-caprylate/caprate, glycerin*, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil*, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil*, candelilla/jojoba/rice bran polyglyceryl-3 esters, glyceryl stearate, parfum (natural fragrance), punica granatum (pomegranate) seed oil*, argania spinosa (argan) kernel oil*, sodium hyaluronate, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder*, dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline, cetearyl glucoside, sodium stearoyl lactylate, tocopherol, lactic acid, dehydroacetic acid, xanthan gum, sodium levulinate, sodium anisate. *ingredients from organic farming
I am very peaky when it comes to moisturizers and creams, since my skin is acne prone, it is mostly hot in Texas, and I tend to have my pores clogged and face shiny if I use to heavy formulated cream. When I read that it has organ oil, I was a little worries it may be too heavy for me. How little did I know! This cream is probably the best cream I’ve ever tried. Not saying this, because I got paid (I did not), but truly, if you have blemishes prone complexion, you’ll love this product. It hydrates without pore clogging, it does not leave thick film on skin, and… it smells so delicate yet amazing (vanilla & coconut natural fragrance). I highly recommend this cream.
To sum up, all Evolve Organic Beauty products I have tried are great. Their are pretty pricey, but definitely worth the price for such high quality. If you wish to try some, go to credo beauty and treat yourself, you won’t regret it.
I am excited to introduce skincare products that are all natural and effective. Transderma is using the most potent ingredients available on the market. They care about quality & performance while making safe cosmetics. The product range is deliberately very limited – this is because the brand focuses on exceptionally pure, scientifically advanced vitamin skin care serums for women and men.
What is serum?
In general, serums are considered as more effective since they contain a high concentration of active ingredients, which distinct them from creams and lotions. They also feel more lightweight, offer you more targeted results as well as customization options. The last one is my recent favorite – Transderma serums mix great together!
5 serums – 5 different skin needs
The offer of the brand is limited – but it has its purpose. Transderma focuses on safe, pure formulations that help your skin to look amazing almost right away!
1. Transderma C
VITAMIN SERUM, REJUVENATING – FIRMING
Revolutionary system for improved absorption of natural vitamin C
Helps boost collagen and elastin regeneration to give skin a firmer, smoother appearance

2. Transderma A
VITAMIN SERUM, SMOOTHING RETINOL – NIGHT SERUM
Regenerative retinol and vitamin E night serum formulated for superior absorption
Helps stimulate skin cell renewal and exfoliation
Helps maintain the integrity of the skin
Reduces appearance of lines, wrinkles, and scars
3. Transderma R
RESVERATROL SERUM LUMINOUS EVEN TONE – EVEN OUT
Reduces pigmentation for even-toned, spotless skin
Has a soothing effect on the skin
Revolutionary vitamin C base formulated for improved stability and absorption protects against free radical and UV damage while helping boost collagen and elastin generation
4. Transderma M
MOISTURIZING SERUM HYDRATING REPAIR – INTENSE
Restores moisture balance to dry, stressed, or mature skin
Repairs the skin’s protective lipid barrier
Improves skin’s smoothness and softness
Rejuvenates and soothes dull, rough, tired skin
Reduces the appearance of dryness and fine lines
5. Transderma O
OPTIMAL BOOSTER SERUM CELLULAR REVIVAL – ENERGIZING
Energizes and helps regulate skin renewal and moisture balancing
Helps to normalizes the production and turnover of epidermal tissue
Promotes cellular longevity and vitality
Revitalizes, smooths, and firms skin
As you can see, everyone will find product that suits their skin concern. My personal favorites so far are Transderma C – it makes my skin look smoother and protects it from UV. I use this one for the day under my makeup – which makes its application even easier. For the night I choose something more intense like Transderma M which restores my dry skin while I sleep. It feels a bit heavier/richer when applying, but my skin absorbs it after 30 seconds (yes, it is really dry), and I do not feel product heaviness anymore.
Mix & Match
What I love doing is mixing my serums together to achieve the best possible result. For example: during the day, when sun is strong I mix 1 drop of transderma R to even skin tone with 1 drop of energizing transderma O for moisture balance. It is really up to you and your skin needs, but isn’t it great that you can customize your own serum?
If that sounds good to you you should try Transderma Travel Size Set. This set will allow you to test each of the mini serums (3ml) and decide which ones you love the most. This is what I did before I started to use my full size products. What’s you favorite, natural serum? Would you give this one a try? Let me know in the comments section below.
Disclaimer: Products have been provided by Transderma, I am not affiliated with the brand in any way – opinion about serums is my own, honest opinion.
Some people think that if you went organic, you must have a hard time finding your products or they are very expensive. Yes, some are more expensive, but I regularly find most of them on promotions in… drugstores or popular grocery stores. Today I’d like to show you, that in order to go organic you do not necessarily need 100% natural retailers like Whole foods in your area. What great brands can you find at your nearest drugstore or grocery store? Check out my favorite ones, available in these popular stores, often on sales!
Walgreens, Ulta, HEB, Walmart. I’m sure you have some of those in your area. At the cosmetics alley there are so many brands to choose from and yes, most of them contain silicones, artificial fragrances and toxic ingredients, but did you know that sometimes right next to them you can find real, clean beauty products?
Clean vs organic
You must understand the difference between clean and organic products. Organic products are USDA certified, using 100% selected, safe and natural ingredients, not tested on animals. Clean products are formulated using not harmful, clean ingredients, but they are not USDA certified and still might be tested on animals (luckily rarely now). The second group is more likely available in mentioned drugstores. This will not satisfy 100% vegans, but it’ll be a better choice for those, who just want to avoid high-risk ingredients in their daily routine.
How to spot toxic formulations
I highly recommend to use Think Dirty app. It allows to scan products barecodes and shows on scale 1 to 10 how toxic a given product is. It will also suggest products that are organic or its toxicity is 0. In general, I would be fine using products up to level 4 of toxicity (1-2 suspicious ingredients like fragrance maybe, if it’s not allergenic), but it’s a matter of your personal choice. If you’re looking for 100% organic, look for USDA certified brands.
Drugstore clean brands
Remember, at Walgreens or HEB there won’t be signs saying “these are clean or organic”. The ‘good’ products will be right next to the ‘bad’ ones. Also, often the products will belong to a company that carries both: clean and toxic beauty products like for instance Neutrogena: they have some stuff with harmful fragrances and silicones, and some clean, natural lines. Many companies do that now in order to bring more consumers. Well, it is not USDA certified, but at least there are more options, and these cosmetics are just as cheap as toxic right next to them, so why not make a better, healthier choice?
Favorite clean brands from drugstores
John Masters Organics (available at Ulta)
Shea moisture (Walgreens, Ulta)
Pacifica (Walgreens, Ulta)
Burt’s Bees (HEB, Ulta, Target, Walgreens, Walmart)
Method (Heb, Target)
Giovanni (HEB, Ulta, Target, Walgreens, Walmart)
Dr Broneer’s (HEB, Walmart, Walgreens)
Neutrogena Naturals – the green line is non-toxic (available at Ulta, Target, Walgreens, HEB and more)
Acure Organics (Target)
Physicians formula – not all, but most of the products are non-toxic (Walgreens, Target, HEB)
Bare minerals, some of the products are 100% mineral and non-toxic (Ulta, Sephora)
Zoya Nail Polish (Ulta)
All of above may be available at even more stores, I only mentioned ones I am 100% sure, because that’s where I buy mine. If you know more clean brands or more stores selling mentioned ones, please leave a comment below. Hope this post was helpful, especially for those who barely started witching to natural products.

Winter is not too gracious for skin and I bet you can feel it and notice on yourselves… Since the temperature in Texas is bellow 30 F, I was happy to be able to try Beautycounter cosmetics including moisturizer for two weeks now. Effects? Read bellow!
You may think it is another company like Avon with consultants trying to sell you low quality, toxic products. In this case the only similarity is that you may become a consultant, but you don’t have too. Beautycounter’s mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone and they’re really doing it. The online store is available for everyone, at any time. Formulas are clean and explained on their website. No hiding and no lies about ingredients. How about that? 🙂
From 3 products that I received from Ashley who reached out to me via Instagram (check out her profile @frostbeautyco) I definitely loved the moisturizer the most.
